Is it possible that an animal protein could receive the same 'farm animal' score as a non-animal protein?

Yes, although only two of the animal-derived products in our directory have received this score to date: Pasture for Life cow milk and Pasture for Life goat milk.

Labels are assessed on their ability to meet the full range of characteristics that are laid out in our Good Food Framework. If no farmed animals have been harmed in the production process, the rating will reflect this. Likewise, for animal-derived foods, the rating will reflect the level of health and happiness that farmed animals are likely to experience for the full duration of their lives.

Like everything humans consume, the food that comes from animals is produced in a wide variety of ways, and our ratings reflect this. Our aim is to provide the knowledge that’s needed so that people can identify the best versions of the food that they want to eat.
